Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a full
contact combat sport that allows the use of striking and
grappling techniques, standing and on the ground,
boxing, wrestling, Brazilian jiu- jitsu, muay Thai,
kickboxing, taekwondo, karate, judo and other styles.
The name mixed martial arts was coined by Rick Blume,
president and CEO of Battlecade, in 1995. One of the
earliest well documented systems of codified full range
unarmed combat was the ancient Olympic combat sport of
Pankration. Various mixed style contests also took place
throughout Europe, Japan and the Pacific Ring during the
early 1900s. The combat sport of Vale Tudo that had
developed in Brazil from the 1920s was brought to the
United States by the Gracie family in 1993 with the
founding of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC),
which is currently the largest MMA promotion company
worldwide. Prior to the UFC, professional MMA events had
also been held in Japan by Shooto since 1989. In due
course, the more dangerous Vale Tudo style bouts of the
early UFCs were made safer with the implementation of
additional rules, leading to the popular regulated form
of MMA seen today.
MMA Originally promoted as a competition with the
intention of finding the most effective martial arts for
real unarmed combat situations, competitors were pitted
against one another with minimal rules. Later, fighters
employed multiple martial arts into their style while
promoters adopted additional rules aimed at increasing
safety for competitors and to promote mainstream
acceptance of the sport.

Developed for use in the street When defending
against an attack in the street, a practitioner is aware
that the variables are never fixed. A practitioner may
be faced with multiple attackers or an opponent with a
weapon, or both. For this reason, Krav Maga emphasizes
training without rules, allowing an individual to use
whatever technique is best suited to the situation to
defend him or herself. This includes the use of found
objects as weapons, and an emphasis on targeting
vulnerable points - such as the back of the neck,
temples, eyes, throat, knees, and groin - of an
opponent's body.
A simple approach to learning All of the Krav
Maga defenses are based upon actual human reflexes-the
body's natural responses. Through constant practice and
repetition, effective defenses against the many possible
forms of attack become automatic-almost second nature.
This ensures that an actual confrontation in the street
will be familiar to a practitioner and that Krav Maga
techniques will be automatically utilized. As a
practical fighting system, Krav Maga includes a wide

A variation of ju jitsu modified
by Helio Gracie in Brazil is known as Brazilian Jujitsu.
Over 95% of street fights finish on the ground, hence ground-fighting skills are
extremely important for self-defense. Taking an attacker to the ground
eliminates around 80% of their arsenal, leaving you in a perfect position to
finish the fight. Of course if there is more than one attacker, taking the fight
to the ground is one of the worst moves imaginable for obvious reasons.
Royce Gracie showed the world the relative effectiveness of ground-fighting in
the first 5 Ultimate Fighting Championships held in the United States. This
tournament accepts any martial artists from any style to battle it out in the
ring to prove their skills against other fighting styles.
As with any Brazilian Ju-Jitsu technique, be extremely careful whilst practicing
these moves with a partner. Sometimes just an inch of movement can break a bone
or cause someone to fall unconscious.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is an art based in ground fighting. Along with this, it
teaches takedowns, takedown defense,
ground control, and especially submissions. Submissions refer
to holds that either cut off an opponent’s air supply (chokes) or look to take
advantage of a joint (such as armbars).
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fighters tend to feel very comfortable fighting from a
position called the guard, if need be. The guard
position-- in essence, wrapping one's legs around an opponent to limit their
movement-- is what allows them to fight from their backs so effectively, and is
also something that separates their art from most other grappling styles.

Though all martial arts schools teach kids how to kick,
punch, block and grapple we focus on the inner teachings

win trophies in martial arts tournaments, some of them
are teaching ancient ways of combat, some of techniques
though seems effective but are vain in real situation,
some are teaching methods intended to be self-defense,
but are really methods of committing unlawful acts, and

Chi Kung (qigong)

Wushu is the correct term for all
Chinese martial arts therefore kung fu and wushu were
originally the same. During the last thirty years,
wushu in Mainland China was
modernized so that there could be a universal standard
for training and competing.
In essence, much emphasis has been
placed on speed, difficulty, and presentation.
Consequently,
wushu has become an athletic and
aesthetic performance and competitive sport,
while "kung fu" or traditional
wushu remains the traditional fighting practice.
Taijiquan is a major division of
wushu, utilizing the bodies internal energy or "chi"
and following the simple principle
of "subduing the vigorous by the soft."
Competitive wushu is composed of two disciplines: taolu
(forms) and sanda (sparring).
Taolu involve martial art patterns
and maneuvers for which competitors are judged and given
points according to specific rules.
The forms comprise basic movements
(stances, kicks, punches, balances, jumps, sweeps and
throws) based on aggregate categories of
traditional Chinese martial art
styles and can be changed for competitions to highlight
one's strengths. Competitive forms have time limits
that can range from 1 minute, 20
seconds for some external styles to over five minutes
for internal styles.
Modern wushu competitors are
increasingly training in aerial techniques such as 540
and 720 and even 900 degree jumps and kicks
to add more difficulty and style
to their forms.
Sanda (sometimes called sanshou or Lei tai) is a modern
fighting method and sport influenced by traditional
Chinese boxing,
Chinese wrestling methods called
Shuai jiao and other Chinese grappling techniques such
as Chin Na. It has all the combat aspects of wushu.
Sanda appears much like Kickboxing
or Muay Thai, but includes many more grappling
techniques.
Sanda fighting competitions are
often held alongside taolu or form competitions.
SANSHOU
SANSHOU : Free combat - combination of Kick,
Punches,
Hold,
Push & Throwing techniques under certain conditions and
fixed rules.
CHARACTERISTICS IN WUSHU METHODS
There are six basic characteristics in WUSHU.
i) Incorporation of toughness with softness for
mental stability.
ii) Co-ordination of internal and external (mind and
body) activities.
iii) The generation and control of qi or chi the
internal energy.
iv) Stressing inner energy.
v) Continuous and uninterrupted movement of chi.
vi) Correct and exact combat techniques.
TAOLU
TAOLU : Routine exercises - WUSHU routines,
practiced either bare handed or with weapons,
involving various combination of attack and defence,
advance and retreat, dynamic and static state,
quickness and slowness, toughness and softness, solidity
and emptiness etc.
The bare handed exercises involved different type of
forms including
Tai-Chi
which has proved its efficiency in treating chronic
diseases such as high blood pressure, pulmonary
tuber-colossis, heart disease, headache, backache and
also helps in reducing fat.
The weapons exercises involved broad sword, short sword,
spear, cudgel etc.
